1) VERB When you write something on a surface, you use something such as a pen or pencil to produce words, letters, or numbers on the surface.

4) VERB When you write to someone or write them a letter, you give them information, ask them something, or express your feelings in a letter. In American English, you can also write someone.

6) VERB When someone writes something such as a cheque, receipt, or prescription, they put the necessary information on it and usually sign it.

Write out means the same as write.

V P n (not pron) We went straight to the estate agent and wrote out a cheque... Also V n P V n P n Get my wife to write you out a receipt before you leave.
